The Peace-Silk or Ahimsa silk (non-violent) is obtained from the hatched cocoons and is one of the animal fibers. The main difference to filament silk is that the caterpillar larvae are able to hatch out of the cocoons. This causes holes in the cocoons and that is why the fibers need to be spun (spun silk) in order to be used as a thread. Peace silk mainly comes from India.
